Update: OMG COMPLETE o(≧∇≦o) JUST IN TIME. MY FIRST DIGITAL DRAWING!! Because I was in the hospital, I thought I would miss the contest. YES, I ACTUALLY DID WORRY ABOUT IT IN THE HOSPITAL LOLZ. orz 

So here he is!! His name is Muse. He was born in the winter, but is extremely sensitive to cold, as he associates it with the fear and desperation he experienced as a cub. When he was born, he was very sickly, and it was something of a miracle that he survived so long on his own. He is strangely thin under all that fur. He wears a soft cloak to make himself feel a little warmer. For some reason, he is drawn to feminine accessories, like the bows he wears on his ears. He has a lot of insecurity about this tendency of his and may lash out aggressively if his clothes are commented on in condescending way. In the same way, he is insecure about the teardrop birthmark on his cheek. In the past he has tried covering it up with a scarf over his head, but has more or less given up hiding it at this point, as it's just too much work.

Muse is a very melancholy Nume. He is extremely superstitious about everything and anything, taking signs in nature as omens of things to come. Because he's often depressed, he sometimes thinks his birthmark is a mark of his general sadness. When he is out traveling, he might take a haphazard bundle of sticks as an omen of coming chaos, or the cloud covering the sun at a particular moment as a "bad sign." Because of this, he often reads whatever he wants to see into situations. He stubbornly clings to his readings of things and it's very difficult to convince him otherwise. He likes to dabble in mystical (and unreliable) arts like reading tarot cards, crystal dowsing, astrology, etc.

Felix ( toyhou.se/237804.felix ) was the first other Nume from Muse's family that he met. Discovering a fellow family member was so overwhelming for Muse that he had uncontrollable crying spells for some time afterward. Felix's upbeat and optimistic personality, offset by his sweet tenderness, ended up being very compatible with Muse. Instead of deriding Muse or telling him he was wrong, Felix would merely gently encourage Muse to consider other possibilities. This is in direct contrast to Rhine's (toyhou.se/66441.rhine ) approach, who is very outgoing but quick to judge. "But that doesn't even make any sense," he might say (with a touch of exasperation), while Felix would try to stick up for Muse: "It might not be a bad sign, but he's worried about it, Rhine."

"Yeah...but it's just a bunch of sticks! C'mon, Muse, you're not going to let some sticks decide how your day is going to go, are you??" Rhine made as if to give Muse a playful shove, but froze at Muse's arresting glare.

"It is a sign," said Muse, with all the gravity of a prophet. "A sign of doom."

"Oh come onnn."

"Well now, let's not argue." Helios toyhou.se/219049.helios , the voice of reason.

"Or we could just...make the sticks into a new, better shape?" Vesper toyhou.se/219050.vesper was always the artsy type.

"No! The fates have given us a sign. We must not tamper with their message... To tamper with it would be to mock the fates."

Rhine clawed at his own face in frustration. "Urgh...Felix...do something...seriously..."

Felix mouth something like, "Hey come on," and Rhine continued to roll his eyes.

"I am going," said Muse, pulling at a pouch under his cloak with shaking paws, "to consult the cards." He fumbled the knot in the leather several times, while the others sat down and got comfortable on the forest floor. All except for Rhine, who was contorting himself slightly, trying not to explode into laughter and/or frustrated sobs.

After a tense several minutes, wherein Muse repeatedly dropped his cards and tried to restack them perfectly, he pawed off the top card and got it turned over (with Felix's help). "DEATH," he announced. 

"Doesn't the Death card mean...like...new doors will open, while previous doors close? That change is upon us? But it might be a GOOD change?" Felix winked.

Muse's ears drooped. "Oh. Yes. Yes, that is...a possibility."

"AWESOME," said Rhine loudly. "I think we are going to GET OUT OF THIS STRANGELY BARREN FOREST and find A LOT OF FOOD."

"Ooh I hope so," said Vesper under her breath, giving Helios a grin (he returned it).

"Yes...I suppose," said Muse.

"Buck up, little buddy!" said Rhine, giving his "little brother" a little noogie.

"MY BOWS," Muse cried out.

Felix wrapped a leg around both of them. "All good feelings guys!"

"I SUPPOSE!"

Decided to redo my character for the Nume MYO contest. I was lucky enough to be gifted a very old tablet and I got a new pen just to try and work on this. I did the sketch before I went to the hospital. From Dec 23-24 I was hospitalized for an overdose. I am still kind of out of it and I'm using this as a way to get back some of my coordination...using my hands and eyes to try and make careful movements. Something I'm having trouble with after the affects of the overdose.

This character is really important to me because I'm basing a lot of his personality on some stuff I struggle with. He is meant to be genderbendy (in the human sense obvs) with a lot of ribbons/bows, but male gender. 

His name is Muse. Hopefully I finish in time. I have never drawn on a tablet before and I have no friggin' idea how to color (I'm probably not even going to attempt shading).
